The Patent, registered SAS Harness has been designed and created to offer an ergonomically sound, fully supported, comfortable and adjustable school pack.

Around 70% of Australian school children may unknowingly be damaging their spines by carrying heavy, poor fitting schoolbags. The result of carrying poor fitting, unsupported school packs can cause muscle strain, scoliosis, distortion of the natural spine curve, rounding of shoulders, muscle spasms and chronic back, neck and shoulder problems that may linger long into adulthood.

The risk factors contributing to spinal damage include:

- Unsupportive school pack.

- A schoolbag that weighs more than 10 per cent of the child's weight.

- Carrying the bag over one shoulder.

- An incorrectly packed backpack.

- An incorrectly fitted backpack.

Additionally school packs should address the issues of 'pack sagging' and 'unsupportive shoulder straps'. A pack should never hang more than 10 centimetres below the waistline as it increases the weight on the shoulders, causing your child to lean forward when walking. Shoulder straps should also support and distribute a packs weight equally across the wearers shoulders.
